A winter storm system to the west will move east of south central Texas on Wednesday and Wednesday night. Cold rain is expected over The Hill Country and south central Texas through this evening... and then will diminish from the west after midnight through Wednesday morning. Some of the cold rain could be mixed with sleet over the northern Hill Country.
As the cold rain ends from the west late tonight and Wednesday morning... partly cloudy skies are expected to follow during the day on Wednesday.
More cold air is expected to spill across south central Texas Thursday and Thursday night. A fast moving disturbance is expected to bring a chance of precipitation to the area Thursday night. Increasing chances of precipitation are expected on Friday... as the fast moving low moves across the area. A chance of cold rain is expected with this weather system late Thursday night and Friday across The Hill Country and south central Texas. Some of the cold rain may be mixed with light snow or some sleet Friday morning over parts of The Hill Country to adjacent parts of central Texas.
The cold rain on Friday will limit daytime highs to the upper 30s to near 40 across The Hill Country to around 40 to low and mid 40s across south central Texas.
A freeze is expected for south central Texas on Friday night. With clearing skies Friday night... freezing overnight lows are expected... with lows in the 20s across The Hill Country to the mid 20s to near 30 across adjacent parts of central and south central Texas.
