... Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of east central Florida, including the following
areas, Indian River, Martin, northern Brevard County,
Okeechobee, southern Brevard County, and St. Lucie.

* Through Monday evening

* deep tropical moisture will remain in the wake of Alberto and
keep high rain chances in the forecast through Monday night.
Individual periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms with
heavy downpours will be capable of producing 2 to 3 inches of
rain in a short period. In areas that see multiple rounds of
showers and thunderstorms, total rainfall amounts could reach 4
to 6 inches by Monday night.

* Heavy rainfall will have the potential to cause flooding on
roadways and in low-lying and poor drainage areas particularity
in areas that received heavy rainfall over the past several
weeks. Do not drive across flooded roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.

... Lake Wind Advisory in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a lake Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening.

* Winds... southeast winds will increase to around 20 mph with
occasional gusts between 30 to 35 mph, especially in any fast-
moving showers.

* Impacts... navigation on large bodies of water will be hazardous
due to choppy water conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

... Beach hazards statement in effect from 7 am EDT this morning
through this evening...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a beach
hazards statement for strong currents and rough surf, which is in
effect from 7 am EDT this morning through this evening.

* Hazards... strong winds and building surf will occur today as
Alberto moves northward off of Florida's Gulf Coast. Rough surf
and strong currents will be present. Bathers are advised against
entering the water to any floating depth. Do not swim alone.

* Timing... hazards conditions will be present from dawn to dark
today.

* Location... all of the east central Florida coast.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
